LOG STYLES

Our custom log pool tables are crafted using locally harvested trees.  We often choose standing-dead trees in many different available species for their stability, structural integrity, and beauty.  Sustainable forestry practices ensure a healthy ecosystem, not to mention a lasting natural resource of beauty and inspiration.

Juniper

Native to Colorado and Utah, this alpine member of the Cedar family has gained a lot of recent acclaim.  Juniper is naturally slow growing in this dry and remote climate and usually makes several directional changes due to soil conditions and it’s current surrounding habitat.  Many of these trees are 600 to 1000 years old.  Each tree is very unique and responsibly harvested only miles from our shop here near Aspen.  This allows us to choose just the right tree for a specific project.  Colorations are as unique as the twists and turns.  The outer wood is a blond color and softer than the dense core of the tree which is orange, brown, dark red, and honey in color.  The ribbons on the outside are just as amazing as the wavy grain of the inside.  Let us create something truly special out from Juniper for your own rustic retreat.

Lodgepole Burl

Our lodgepole Burl pool tables are made using logs from Colorado and Wyoming. A very unique table handcrafted here in the Roaring Fork Valley near Aspen, this log style billiard table is sure to capture attention in any rustic retreat. Each and every angle offers a different view of this wood's unique character. Lodgepole burl logs are harvested from the high mountains of Wyoming and Colorado. Each log is carefully selected, sanded and finished revealing great character and beauty. As with any billiard table of this caliber, quality of play depends on a table being solid, sturdy and true to the test of time.  It goes without saying that each log is unique, each burl is unique and the artistic interpretation of our craftsmen is very unique.  There will be no two alike, ever!

Split Willow

Those dark smoke colored textures that split willow branches add to a table’s design and style are very unique.  The willow branches along with birch bark comes to us from Iowa and Minnesota.  It grows with a thick, smooth bark that stands up favorably to wear.  We seal the bark with a tinted varnish and carefully apply it to the table framework to create those artful geometric designs reminiscent of the Adirondack style Great Camps.  Some of the designs can be seen in our “Lake Placid” and “Algonquin” custom rustic billiard tables.

Spruce

Spruce is used frequently in our log pool tables and rustic game room furniture.  There are almost always streaks of grayish blue found within the wood.  The underlying color of the wood is very light sand color with some tan shades showing up toward the center of the tree.  Spruce is found and harvested here in Colorado.

Cats Face

Our "Cats Face" table combines the naturally forming texture of the tree with the sound playability of a handcrafted Aspen Rustic billiard table in this stunning show of character.

“Cat’s Faces” can be seen in the natural bark outer parts of these trees.  When a tree stands strong against the elements of nature, it endures many lightning bolts, wind gusts and snowy winters.  With each scar comes a unique character mark in the skin of the tree.  We at Aspen Rustic find every opportunity to highlight these “Cat’s Faces” and make them an integral part of the cowboy Rocky Mountain experience.  With the help of our design staff we can work with your preferences to pick out just the right logs to use to complement the billiard room in your home or personal retreat.  Whether we build a table for your mountain cabin, hunting lodge, European chalet, or log home, we take the time to craft our pool tables with certain “mountain elegant” flair.
